Carers

Working closely with families/carers has been very beneficial to our service-users learning experience and progress. We meet with parents/carers every six months, which enables us to incorporate their goals when setting training targets.
Service-users are given a photographic record sheet after each session, which gives them the opportunity to discuss their day and issues covered with their carers. Service-users are proud of these sheets and it helps to reinforce what they have learnt.
Many of our service-users’ parents have seen great changes in their son/daughters skills and confidence. For some parents who never thought their son/daughter could live semi- independently now realise this is possible.

Our training has been unique in the respect that it has not only taught independent living skills but has helped many of our service users to fulfil lifelong aspirations.
